Absence.

I haven't been taking any photos lately.
I haven't been going anywhere new lately.

Thus, the lack of posts.

I feel I should always have pretty photos to show you and wonderful experiences to tell.

But January has been very routinely.

School and home.
Hanging out with V.
Reading, playing.

It's been a good month though.
Except for the illnesses. The flu got us.
I've had a sore throat on/off for the month
and V for the past week and half was quite ill.

I'm sure you're glad I told you that.

Next month you'll get more pictures.
A's visit should get me taking pictures.
(And BOY am I excited that she's coming!!)

OK. Bye.

Have a great week!

Mi bangs.

As you all know, I've had bangs for about a decade. (Wait...WHAT?) If you do my maths right, that's about it. Not quite, but that's where you round it up.

I love bangs. Not having bangs does not suit me, and bangs are versatile. There are so many ways you can cut them and they always give you a different look.

Brilliant.

My bangs had gotten a bit long by the end of last year and I hadn't been to a hairdresser's in at least six months, so I thought it was about time to do it when we came to Finland for the holidays.

Didn't do it.
Too expensive and just didn't get round to it.

Well. We came back to London. V cut his hair (he always cuts his own and why not. he does a great job, with a little help from yours truly...) and I thought....He could cut my bangs too! I mean, how hard can it be? Just cut straight bangs. Simple.

So he did it. I got straight bangs.

And I wasn't happy. They were too short. Didn't like them. I swore that I'd go to a professional for my next haircut.

But then I noticed... The bangs looked good. Really good. I liked them.

And I still do.

So the lesson of the day is, home-cut can have good results and when it comes to hair - it's not a bad thing to wait a few days to see your hair actually turns out.

He'll be cutting my bangs the next time and possibly even tidy up the ends.

What a great way to save money! Why spend 40€ on something that I can get for free?

Exactly.

Wahaca. Or how to spend £50 at a restaurant.

Do you remember that 2010 Shakira song, 'Waka Waka', in which she sings 'It's time for Africa...'?
The song kept coming into my head whenever I thought or said the word Wahaca.
Which is a restaurant where we went yesterday for our 6 year (gasp! Has it really been that long?) anniversary.

At first we were planning on making a nicer dinner (than usual) for ourselves for the anniversary, but because of a rare chance of good luck, I won a £50 voucher for Wahaca! I couldn't believe it when I got the email. Such a great thing!

So we went. We walked around Covent Garden a bit - really interesting, but since neither of us hadn't eaten since breakfast, we were really hungry really soon.

And it was a good thing we did. Because soon after we had arrived, the place started packing up with a lot more people and by the time we left, there was a queue at the door.

We both other drinks other than soda or water, starters, main courses, one side dish and - to end the dining experience properly - we shared three desserts. Yes, three.

The starters were nothing special, the side was a rip off, but the mains were delicious. We loved the beef, the chicken, the rice, the bean salad - the whole. And the desserts really topped it off. They were gorgeous.

We LOVED the flan - the best I've ever tried in the series of creme caramel, créme brûlée, flan and even panna cotta. THE BEST, the dulce de leche ice cream with chocolate bits and churros y chocolate - though the chocolate was a bit too dense for our taste. Churros by themselves though..mmm.

My mouth's watering even now just thinking about our dinner. Mmm.....

And that is the story of how we spent £50.40 on a dinner. Yes. We actually went over the £50 like that wasn't enough for us to eat..

Great night.
